Both Divorce and Bankruptcy are stressful, painful experiences, but the sooner these issues are resolved, the better you will feel. Property division and support agreements are part of many divorces, but before you agree to support obligations, remember that you CANNOT discharge them in a Chapter 7 bankruptcy after the divorce is final.
Most couples have debts and in a divorce, property division will also include assignments of debts. You should be careful what you agree to assume as far as debts are concerned. If at all possible, you should make an attempt to discuss bankruptcy before you agree to a final divorce settlement.
